Mission & What We Do
Mission:
The Steen Foundation, a youth-led philanthropic organization based in Detroit, Michigan, is dedicated to amplifying youth voices and driving systemic change. We invest in organizations that prioritize education, environmental stewardship and conservation, arts and culture, political advancement, and career development, guided by the Critical Youth Theory model.
What We Do:
• Grant-Making and Investments: We provide funding to programs and initiatives that elevate the voices of young people, build on-ramps to careers and foster equitable opportunities.
• Capacity Building: We partner with organizations to ensure they have the tools and resources needed to thrive and create lasting impact with youth at the center.

• Social Impact Bonds: We facilitate the development of Social Bonds, Green Bonds, and Community Development Bonds to help municipalities and corporations meet their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals. By embedding accountability into these systems, we ensure measurable and sustainable outcomes.

• Youth Empowerment: We cultivate leadership by integrating youth into decision-making processes, equipping them with the skills to shape their communities and careers.
